16 day count down- DIY Snowflake Decor

Whether you live in the mountains of Vermont, on the shores of Florida
or the arid desert of Nevada,  like those we used to know,
everyone dreams of a White Christmas.

Whether you live in snow country or not, snowflakes are a
Winter Holiday Icon and a lovely decorative accent.

SO...  LET IT SNOW!

How to make a snowflake

Materials needed to make snowflakes start with 6 Popsicle sticks or
paint sticks along with a combination of assorted wood craft sticks,
squares and shapes. All of these ingredients are found at
craft stores in bags of multiple sizes and shapes.

To make small snowflakes like those on the bedroom wall displayed
in the photo above, use different sizes of Popsicle craft sticks. For
the super large snowflake pictured in my blog post from Dec 2011
and used in the demonstration below, you would start
with wooden paint sticks.

EITHER WAY, THE TECHNIQUE IS THE SAME:

1-  On a sheet of brown paper, use a ruler to draw a template to follow,
just like the one below.

2- Lay the sticks down over the template as shown. Doing this allows you
to make sure your snowflake pattern is always symmetrical.

3- Use a permanent glue of your choice for adhering the pieces together.
I used a glue gun.  Lay your base first, then add additional layers to create
your final design.

4- The final step is to spray the snowflake with a glossy white Krylon spray paint.
